Messy, Messy Thailand

This time it really has been an age since my last entry and wow so much has happened, so I went from every day being exactly the same to going to Thailand and having a very interesting and mostly brilliant time and am now back to doing the same thing every day.
So the first thing I did when I escaped from my captures all those weeks ago, god knows what the date was was go out drinking with one of the drillers offenders I had become friends with, we were on a proper mission, starting of on beer, moving onto jagger bombs and rum and coke and then some sort of jelly absinthe shot. Near the end of the night we met these two Swiss girls and I announced and I imagine that's exactly how I did it, that there was a pool back at the hotel where work was putting me up, so obviously the logical thing to do even though it was about 2am and about 2 degrees outside we all went back to the hotel drunk as skunks and went swimming for all of about 10 minutes decided it was to cold and had a couple more drinks then they left with my buddy and I most likely passed out straight away.
The next day was great... not. I had to get a flight to Melbourne at about 11am and I was not feeling great, in fact I puked on the plane, got a nose bleed, hostees must have thought I was a freak. Got to Melbourne went straight to the hostel, then went to meet on of my best friends from back home feeling like such a winner. We went to a bar where I had a coke, went to the loo and it stank of sick, which in my state did not go down well at all and somehow stuff still came pouring out of me. Luckily that was it, I then went on and had a lovely evening, seeing a bit of Melbourne which I really liked, I knew I would. Then we went to see Transformers 3 at which point I fell madly in love with the main girl, which I imagine every man did when she appears on screen. After this I headed back to my hostel in preparation for my next leg of the journey.
The next morning I got up and headed back off to the airport for another of the many flight I would be getting over the next few weeks, this one was to Thailand to meet my misses and her and mine good friend and then lots of her friends, the good friend that is.
On arrival I got a taxi to the hostel we were all booked into, and once I had got into my room established that the friends of my friend were there and plucked up the courage to introduce myself I headed on down, they were all lovely girls and I was glad I did, we chatted for a couple of hours and then the girls in my life which I'd travelled round new Zealand with came rolling into the hostel, I was very excited to see them both and once they were a little settled I dragged everyone out to the Ko San road for a few well a lot of drinks, we all got absolutely plastered and went back for a nights sleep before me and my two lady friends went to the airport in the morning to get another flight down to Ko Samui where we would have to get a taxi to a port and then a boat to Ko Phan Yang, I felt fine but the girls were struggling a little. That night we checked into the resort me and missus had booked, a very nice resort it was too and for the money, great value. Me and my good friend left my misses to sleep and went out for a few drinks, unfortunately they were few buckets and we ended up staying out a bit longer than we should have, came back and she wasn't sleeping in the room anymore, which we found out from banging on the door for a while, after going up and down the hill to the resort about 4 times to go and look for her in the town I gave up and feel asleep outside the room, my friend went to a party upstairs and then one of the staff appeared took my drivers license and let me into the room. I woke up at about 6 am and my missus wasn't there, I freaked out got dressed then went roaming the town for any sign of her, we bumped into each other in the street, she was in a taxi and had had a wicked night partying on some beach we never found and then went to a party somewhere on the island so at least she'd had a good night. The next night was a little more chilled for me and this where my missus changes roles a little and becomes my good friend from back home.
The next night was however very interesting, it was the night that we had come to the island for, The Full Moon party, you've never seen anything like it, a beach full of people, big beach too and everyone drinking buckets, wearing the most ridiculous luminous tank tops and shorts and black lights everywhere. Then there is the fire... the fire is everywhere, people blowing fire, spinning fire on staffs, spinning fire on poi, people going down slides between fire, massive full moon party 2011 signs on fire and finally a giant skipping rope where people were having to jump into a circle jump this rope of fire whilst the people spinning it got faster and faster, bit stupid if you ask me as you got burnt no matter what. After a few drinks I tried something called laughing gas, this was an interesting experience it just totally heightened your senses and lasted about 10-20 secs it was like I say fun and interesting. The rest of the night was pretty messy but not out of control, well from us anyway, there were people shagging in the sea, peeing in the sea and puking in the sea, luckily I was not one of them. Me and my good mate from the Uk got split from the group about 3am went and explored the rest of the beach and then went home, apparently everyone else stayed till it got light and ended up getting a taxi back to where they were staying at about 8 am.
The next couple of nights it was just me and my good friend from the Uk as the others ended up staying miles from the main town. It was good, we just ended up going back to the beach where much the same was going on just on a much smaller scale.
The reason I'm not mentioning dates or days is because not once on my holiday I knew what the date or day was, in fact I still don't, well I now know the date but not the day.
So we me and my good friend got a taxi to another port and then a boat to another island called Ko Tao, this is where we were reunited with the rest of the group. Once again we got into a taxi this time all 8 of us, and headed off to our bungalows of joy, me and my good mate from the Uk lived upto expectations and got a nicer room in an apartment block just across the road. That night we went down to one of the beach bars and played beer pong, now when me and the girl I drank with on the first night get together, and not sure if I mentioned this yet but we egg each other on but at the same time look after each other, we are like brother and sister its must be amusing to watch. Anyways, I obviously wasn't doing my job properly because she got called ferrel by one of the bar staff aduticating the matches, for the first time ever she was speechless, I just wish I'd seen it. Later on that evening I end up on the beach with her chatting away about god knows what when some big ginger bird and her friend come and chat to us, now I remember her coming up to us, me gassing away and mentioning we're going to some D&B night the following night and that's it. Obviously this story will come up again...
So the following day hits we're all feeling like total winners, obviously, pretty sure we spent the day on the beach who can be sure, it's about the sum of what we did. The. That night we went to the Castle where there was a lot of drinking, dancing and I bumped into the ginger bird, anyways she starts of by telling me she knows my full name and if you know me that's no mean feet, it's consists of four names and my family calls me by my second name so most people don't even know my first name, especially my third name, so I'm a bit freaked out. The second thing she tells me about me, I can't repeat, but again I'm a little taken a back and then she says she has one more thing to tell me but says she will tell me later and I beg her to tell me know cause there is no way in hell I am going anywhere with this chick, she'd eat me alive, her mates alright so I approach her thinking I can actually use my charm to ekk the info out of her but alas she does not know, suppose I will never find out what the third thing is. I end up being the last of my group left at the venue and by this point I have had about 4.5 to 5 buckets and if you have ever been to Thailand you would know this could be a record. So I get back to the hotel piss my friend right of by keeping her awake all night by chatting to her when I first get in and then by spuing my guts up for 3 hours straight then getting into bed in the Rico position, again if you know me you will know this position. The next day I have no recollection of this and I think I was still drunk and high off the red bull as I feel great till about 5 in the afternoon.
That night was a pretty chilled one, just a meal and then a quick drink then bed a few of the legions stayed out but didn't last too long. The next day we took a short water taxi to another island just a small little nature reserve really where some of us went snorkelling, I got a load of underwater pics with a camera I hired and some of us trekked up this hill to look at the view when we got to the top we were drenched in sweat, lovely. That night I had planned to go to a shooting range I had heard about to play with a few guns, unfortunately it was closed but it could have been fate I think, so instead we went to play mini golf. That night whilst we were having our dinner I mentioned to a waiter we were going to the shooting range and he said to go to his restaurant the next day and for 200 bht he would take me shooting on his land with his lugger, I was well up for this but that night we heard about the awful tragedy that befell Norway and this is why I say fate stopped me, I didn't go the next day as I felt totally insensitive doing it and also pics of me with a gun even for fun would have been in extremely bad taste, it's one of those things when your there it seems like a good idea but in hind sight not so much. That day we left Ko Tao for the main land a place I only know as champion, I think it's called Champon. When we got here it was absolutely pissing it down, we hoped on an open sided bus got absolutely soaked and headed for about an hour for the train station to go to Bangkok, once there we had a bit of time to kill so we went for a meal in a local restaurant, we were staving by this point. We sat on 2 tables and one table got their food after about an hour, my table did not however and the time for the train was getting ever closer, one member of our group was on the cocktails and started thinking she could see her self on the TV, this was quiet funny, another member was getting so angry with the waitress, the waitress ended up bringing us a plate of bananas to say sorry. Luckily our train was delayed because we didn't get our food until 20 minutes after it was supposed to have left. Once finished we got supplies and headed for the train, now by supplies I mean 3 bottles of coke and some crisps, why so much coke you ask, well, I had been lugging these 2 bottles of spiced rum all over Thailand which I had bought in Melbourne and was desperate to get rid of them as I couldn't take them to work because I work on a dry camp. They obliged and we had the funniest over night train ever. I wish I could upload some of the pictures of this trip but it would go against my identity rule.
Once we arrived in Bangkok after about 3 hours sleep we took a taxi of course and checked into our hotel quick smart, went straight to bed. Later that day me and my good friend from the Uk went to the big shopping mall called MBK and I said it would take about 5 hours to go round, but she said 'no no, we'll be there for about an hour' obviously she had no idea how big this mall was and we were there for about 4 hours and she wanted to stay longer but we had to get back and meet some guys we met at the castle party who were staying in our hotel, which was pretty random but the tourist trail through Asia is well travelled. So we get back a little late and are asked to get changed and get straight out on it again, you can now see why the whole thing was a blur, we head out goto my favourite bar on Ko San Road where this Thai guy sings and plays the guitar and he is amazing. From here we go to she a ping pong show, or so we think, there is little ping pong as such involved it turns out to be this seedy club where the women do a few tricks of which I can not elaborate and some guy comes out on stage with a massive ding dong and proceeds to do very impressive moves on the lady on stage at the time, so basically some sorded sex show, the pour girls we were with and I'm not talking about the girls I already knew who were in the front row, the other girls, not sure they... I wanna say they didn't enjoy it, but I didn't enjoy it, it was nothing like the ping pong show I saw last time I was in Thailand which was laughable this was taking it to a whole new level of twistedness. Anyway we ended up going back to Ko San Road after not to long, oh... not until I had been hit in the chest by a soggy banana and the reason I say this with such distain, not because it isn't a totally horrible experience because it is, but because last time I saw a show I got hit in the foot by a soggy banana, yes and wearing flip flops, jandels or thongs which ever you like to call them. Anyway not long after we got back to Ko San Road my good friend from the Uk needed to be taken home, much like me on many other an occasion. The next day me and my good friend said goodbye to the rest of the group as we both needed to go back to work, her to NZ and me to Oz, there were tears shed as once again the 2 girls were separated and I was sad this time too as I had felt I had really connected with not only my little sis but the rest of the group as well and I was very tempted at one point to join them to Chang Mai and possible further, but alas work was calling. That day the 2 of us wandered the Ko San Road shops and stalls had a nice meal and went to bed, what we hadn't bargained for was the amount of noise the Ko San Road made at about 10pm, we lay there for about 2 hours when I suggested we go get one last pad Thai, it was created with great enthusiasm, we then went to bed and slept for all of about 3 hours when we had to get up and get another taxi, to get another plane to Kuala Lumpar, or KL darling. When we arrived we got the long bus ride into KL and checked into our hotel, something called Le Meridian or something, had never heard of it, wow, it was well nice, the roof top pool, the deluxe room, figured I'd never stayed in a swanky hotel before so I thought I'd treat us, worth every penny. We slept for a couple of hours, then chilled by the pool with cocktails for a few hours. We then went to the Chinese Market bought loads of fake stuff, well she did this was my third time here I really didn't need more t-shirts or sunglasses especially considering how many t-shirts I bought in Thailand. Then we went back to the hotel got into our glad rags, went to look at the pertronos towers at night which are amazing I might add, then we went to find something to eat and the last part of my tour, the Sky Bar, up the top of the traders hotel, which is well worth it if you are ever in KL over night. Unfortunately this all took us to about midnight and we had to be up again in a few hours to get a bus to the airport then a plane to our said countries. Leaving was pretty painful I might add, not only because I was so tired but also because I realised I wouldn't see this girl again for quiet some time, and even though I had had something romantic with her I had also become quiet close friendship wise, it was a sad moment like I said, exacerbated by the fact I was so tired.
We had to goto different airports and part ways, my flight back to Oz was a bit non plus, it was alright, my journey from Perth airport to my friends in Freo was crap, especially as it took me about 3 hours or more. And when I got back I was confronted by a mad party of drunk people, so I headed out and watched Harry potter, came back and went to bed. The next day I got up early re packed, got into a taxi to the airport got a flight to Alice springs, the last flight thank god, had enough flights for now. Stayed the night in Alice had an amazing steak at a place called 'Sporties' amazing steak. Then drove up to camp the next day which is where I am writing this the following day. Things have been shaken up here, the project is being closed down and I might be out of a job soon. Well I will write a post about that as and when, if this doesn't come to pass my next blog will be my 30th birthday in Melbourne skiing, whoop whoop, sorry bout the length of this one, slots happened of late.

Crumbs, nearly a year since my last post...

Well like the title says, its been a while since my last post, and for you that have been eagerly awaiting the next instalment here it finally is, wow where to start, obviously that is a silly question as I'm not gonna start yesterday and work my way back even if I wanted to.

I've been living in Oz since leaving NZ last, with a couple of trips back to the UK, one of which was to plant a tree in memory of my Dad on the one year anniversary of his passing.

So when I got back to Oz I backed up my stuff from Byron Bay as it was time to move on, everything piled into my car and away I went, heading up the coast towards Brisbane and further. Brisbane is one of my favourite cities in Oz and I would like to go back and sample it some more. I liked the layout, the people and the general feel, it helped that I was staying in a particularly nice hostel, very homely. I went to the Koala sanctuary whilst here and held a very cuddly Koala bear, got a great pic of that, cute. I also visited the Australian Zoo, otherwise known as Steve Irwin's Zoo, here I saw some rather foolish people get very close to a very angry looking croc, the only shame was you could see the fear in their faces and I imagine you wouldn't see that in good old Steve's, rest his soul.

From here I drove north towards Mission beach, picking up a hitch hiker on the way to relieve the boredom on my mammoth journey. The problem was he was French and had a very heavy set accent which I really struggled with, so the whole experience completely knackered me out. The interesting part was that he made me drop him off in the bush where he would set up his hammock and sleep in the wild, a little brave for me as Oz is full of nasties and I mean full, big spiders, snakes, and so much more.

The next day I drove to mission beach to go diving on the great barrier, the very same french man was waiting to be picked up so obviously I obliged. Diving on the great barrier was cool, got to see my very first shark, it may have only been a reef shark but it was a shark none the less to me. Didn't get to see Turtles which I was gutted about as the snorkelers did, ugg.

This is where the journey got sparse and particularly uninteresting as I drove across australia from Mission beach towards Mount Isa then upto the northern Territories and then down to Alice springs and then onto Ayres Rock. I stopped over night in some hilly billy town on this part of the journey and then would drive 800-1000 kms for 8-10 hours every day. I arrived at Ayers Rock at sunset, got some great photos, pretty much went to bed and got up for sunrise and got some more great pics. Whilst here I thought it would be a waste not to do a little exploring so went around and got some more pics of rocks before heading onto my final destination perth with a few more desolate places on the way.

Once in Perth my mission was to get work in the mines and after untold courses applying for 500 jobs getting all my certificates, truck license I landed my first job with the help of one of my best friends in the UK, she sorted my CV out and found me an entry level job, so that once I returned to Oz after my trip home in August to commemorate my Dads passing I basically had a job waiting for me. I bought all my equipment, got in my car and headed up to Kalgoolie. A horrible mining town in my opinion, but some really like it.

From here I was driven into the middle of the bush with nothing about and did basically hard labour for 60 days straight without a day off, 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, and right now you are thinking why would someone do that, and I can tell you because the financial awards are amazing and what an experience, I can't even begin to explain the landscape I'm working in, let alone the heat, the people and the machinery I'm working with. Then as well I am getting paid to basically work out all day and trust me it paid off, I got back home at christmas and everyone thought I'd grown taller because I totally filled out.

Christmas was good, a few teary moments as Dad wasn't there, I apologise for keep mentioning it but hopefully you will understand what a major part of my life it is. When I returned to Oz the mining company couldn't get me out because of floods and storms. So I went and worked as a labourer in Port Hedland, where when I turned up there was no food in the house as the house mates hadn't been able to go shopping as the shops were closed due to a Cyclone coming through... great. I spent the next couple of days sitting on my arse doing nothing. Then when I finally got to work I wished the cyclone had never gone. When working in the Mines the heat was about 45'c and then with an extra 5'c coming off the machines, but 50'c in dry heat is ok, ok I was drinking about 15 litres of water a day but I could cope. Now the temperature in Port Hedland was about 35-40'c but the humidity was 100% and this was unbearable, I don't understand how anyone can work in this, you step outside and your dripping with sweat, your doing labouring and you are your very own waterfall, you may as well dangle a bucket between your legs and drink the sweat coming straight off, not fun. Whilst up in Port Hedland, sorry Hell, I got some good and bad news in one. I found out my Australian visa had been turned down for my second year visa, and the reason was I had started the application in the UK and then travelled to Oz before a decision was made, so I had to leave the country for them to make a decision, this came at a good time because one of my friends from the UK was just coming to New Zealand after being in South America for 6 months. So I planned a 2 month holiday in New Zealand, as you do.

Once here I spent a couple of weeks with the Uni friend I had spent my last time here, taking photos, camping, generally enjoying the nice weather and the beautiful countryside. Then the fun began, I flew up to Auckland and spent the next month with 2 girls who were great fun, we partied, took hundreds of silly pictures and toured like no one has toured the north island before, I got a called a weirdo by a couple of random german girls, obviously 2 people who didn't wanna have fun, to be fair I got so drunk that apparently I was screaming in my sleep, I don't remember it therefore it didn't happen. Once arriving in the south Island I stayed in Nelson to do a White water rafting kayak course, which for 300 bucks was a total bargain, I nearly drowned one day which was totally my fault as I should have bailed out of my kayak but couldn't be bothered with it filling up with water so I started to breathe in water which was obviously not a good idea, at which point I managed to get my head above water before the instructor came over and did the move called the hand of god which basically is a move where with the help of you he rolls you back over. Apart from this the course was incredible.

Then one of the girls went over to Oz after a fantastic birthday party we held for her. Then me and my friend from the UK... spent the next couple of weeks checking out the north east side of the south island. And here we are now, I'm heading back to Oz, my friend has settled in a job in Blenhiem and I am gonna miss her terribly.

I will try and not leave such a gap between the entries this time, so until next time.

New Zealand - Land of a thousand oppertunities for some

Landing in this country itself is an experience, I flew into Christchurch in the evening and you are immediately confronted by one of the most spectacular views I have every witnessed, the plane dropped through the cloud line and all you can see is mountains and valleys. At this point all electronic equipment is meant to be switched off, but I couldn't help but grab my SLR and start snapping away. I was in awe of some of the most dramatic landscapes I had ever witnessed. Once you pass the mountains you pass over the flats before Christchurch which are methodically placed and set out in grid formation and present a different man made kind of beauty.

Once I landed you have to go through a rigorous questioning session from immigration, of which most of the questions I could not answer, basically through lack of planning on my part, like where your staying, address's telephone numbers etc, etc. Then you have your bags scanned by a huge x-ray which I passed through with ease. On the other side my beloved friend was waiting, and with grins on both our faces we fling ourselves into each others arms and reminisce of times gone past in the UK. Its good to be here. We drive for a half hour back to hers and spend the rest of the evening catching up on what has happened in each others lives for the past 18 months or so.

Over the next few days we eat drink and party, I am introduced to so many lovely people and feel so at home in this city that is virtually the farthest point on earth away from my home town london, and these guys know how to party.

A week passes in Christchurch and I love every minute, I spend time looking at the sites, taking in the culture from the local Art Galleries and Museums. I'm given a guided tour of the local Botanical gardens where in I snap to my little photographers heart content, then we go up to the hills above Christchurch which is a strange experience as you can see the whole of Christchurch spanning out below you but yet you don't for a minute feel you are near a City, you feel like you are in the middle of the country sides of wales with a picture of Cardiff set in front of you.

On the second weekend we (3 girls and me) head up to Nelson as my friends have people up there they want to see and I have an old Uni friend I am going to visit. We get up the late and it is pissing it down, which I am told is not normal for Nelson as this part of the country is used to sunshine most of the time. The drive up is probably beautiful but we left after dark so I don't get to see it. The next day me and my Uni friend go to the local market, which is a bit of a disappointment as the rain has prevented most of the stall holders to turn up. I find a few little trinkets though to give to people as a way of saying thank you for being so hospitable.

That night we go to a night called Southern Breaks where I am reunited with my Christchurch Buddies, all of us party into the night dancing our tits off to some heavy breaks.

The next day is a lazy day of movies but my enjoyment of this country is only just beginning even though I have so much fun already. The Monday hits and my friend from Uni has the day off, we get up early as not to waste the day and head out to do a sky dive over Abel Tasmin. We arrive at 10am and are in the air by 20 past, 20 minutes later and we are preparing to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet potentially to our deaths, this thought doesn't cross my mind but I can't even try and explain the feeling I get as I am hurled out this little twin engined plain and the floor is hurtling towards me. It is a feeling apparently that you can never describe, all your senses go absolutely nuts, I can tell you this though watching the DVD back I am having the most fun I have ever had in my life, I am shouting for joy all the way down.

As if this wasn't enough my day is still only just beginning, we go from here up to Abel Tasmin national park, pick up a columbian hitch hiker on the way and stop for a bit to eat at a road side, what I can only describe as burger hut. The man behind the counter serves me a delicious burger and a couple of scallops that are so good I have to get more. We then jump on a Jet boat get a little tour of the local area, split apple rock, which apparently is a photo taken a lot to promote the local area, then we go past fur seals perched on shards of rocks I can only describe as formations that look like they have been pushed out of the sea by some underwater force. We then got dropped at a beach called Anchorage, which was lovely (I probably should have mentioned the weather by this point was absolutely gorgeous.)  We then had a four hour tramp (Trek) back to the car, through the jungle along the coast line. Its funny the tramps here are very structured and seem to follow particular paths, but I have only done two so they may not all be like that. We finally got back to the car at dark and felt like the day had been properly utilized.

Then on the Tuesday I woke up late but my Uni friend had the afternoon off so we went the other way from nelson and went to the Happy Valley sky wire/flying fox. This entailed getting on a chair lift type structure putting on some very silly head gear and being flung back and forth down this wire at 90 Km/ph at a height of about 100 foot. After which we climbed a hill above cable bay and watched the sunset at which I got some amazing shots.

The next day I headed back to Christchurch on a 7 hour bus journey which followed the coast line where I saw more seals and some awesome mountain views.

Preparing for the future

Well here we are once again, it has been a while since I last updated and have been scared about updating my blog as I have had some bad news.

Since writing my last blog post my father passed away, not really the sort of thing you want to shout from the roof tops but all the same it is a very important part of anyones life. I have never lost anyone close to me and the first person I do loose is one of the closet people to me. Its not something you just get over overnight but I am looking to the future and not putting my life on hold as I know that is not what he would want. My dad was in many ways my hero, I have accomplished so much in my life thanks to him.

So looking to the future what are my plans...

Well for starters my beaded jewellery business BeadedLink is starting to kick off well. I am looking forward to this becoming a create hit, as a creative I believe that sharing my creative gift with others to enjoy is one of the most important things. In many ways my Dad did the same, he was an interior designer.

Secondly I am planning my mammoth travelling trip, this is a trip I have been planning for a very long time... so long I can't even remember when it started. What makes it so much more to look forward to is that fact the love of my life is going to be with me enjoying every step; well maybe a few more steps than me as she is already out there, she is currently in India and I will be joining her for 2 and half weeks in November then coming back having Christmas and then heading out in February to embark on a journey of a life time. I will obviously be writing all about my adventures right here, that goes without saying.

So until my next post...

Fifth Post

Well I feel I should put an entry in, even if I have nothing to say. So here goes for one of my most boring entries to date, feel free to skip over this entry if you feel it will be wasting your life. I have been working solidly getting my beaded jewellery site Beads up and running to a point where there is enough stock and items to interest anyone who may stumple across my site. I have recently been in talks with an SEO Company to boost the traffic on my site but I am worried about the price as I'm not sure I can warrent it, I wish I could have someone tell me I'm doing the right thing or not. Ahhhh, what to do.

I have also done a few more festivals and have got my first craft fair this weekend. its possibly not the best year to get into this I feel as all the traders at every festival I have done have said sales are down this year, but the weird thing is that the numbers of people going to these things hasn't changed, if anything they have increased, I would be seriously disheartened if every other stall were chatting about record sales and I was the only one being effected but thankfully this is not the case.

Well thats it for now, I will try and make sure somethinga little less dull happens in my life for the next entry.

Fourth Post

So I had my third festival as a trader this last weekend, was a bit of a disaster if I am brutally honest, people just weren't willing to spend the money on my wares, they all wanted VW spare parts and the like. Kinda makes sense really as it was a VW festival, Deva Dubs and Rods to be precise. Volksfest was much better though even though that was a VW festival, not really sure where it all went wrong. I spoke to most of the traders and they all had the same problem. People apparently are going to the festivals but just aren't spending the money.

My girlfriend and I printed a load of T-Shirts specifically for the festival as well, a load of T-shirts with VW Vans Type 1's and VW Beetles on. I think they are really cool, but as they aren't for me this opinion doesn't matter, but I have been told by most who have seen them that they are pretty cool. I suppose I will just have to hope the website sales will go better, T-Shirts just in case you wanted to know. (Plug)

Me and my other half hand printed 100 t-shirts in preparation for the festival, but I was very happy with the results, so happy I thought it may be cool to set up another site of the back of it and I hope to be able to hand print a lot more designs in the future, as I said before the site is T-Shirts (Plug, plug)

Other than that not much has been going on, I am finally sorting out my stock for Beads which is nice. err what else, a friend that I meet in Uganda is staying with me at the moment, he is originally from Canada and we jumped of a cliff together in a place called sippy falls, but that is an entirely different story, one that involves lots of profanities which I don't think would be appropriate for a site like this. So until next time, look after yourself and each other, you never know it may actually be beneficial.

Third Post

Well where to start, hmm... its been a long time since my last entry. I have been excessively busy.

Well I suppose I should probably tell you why... It all may be a bit vague as a lot of it happened a while ago.

I went skiing as I said I would and it was exactly what I needed, gave me a chance to get away and have some fun without thinking of anything like work, life or any other thing that was grinding down my relaxed persona.

I came back feeling refreshed and vitalized, not only because I was talking to my girlfriend but just because I'd had a chance to take a step back and figure out my goals properly. I came back with a fighting spirit some may say.

Relatively I have done very little of interest since I last put an entry but at the same time have accomplished so much. Lets start with my business, I have setup a business last year selling jewellery, 'a guy making and selling jewellery, thats a little strange' I hear you say. I only hear you say it because I told it to my face quiet regularly. I get told by females in the industry that it is a refreshing thing, I get asked by my mates if there is something about my sexuality I'm not telling them. I just do it because I find it fun and there are ways to make money and enjoy it in the process.

So... I setup this business started my own site www.RicoCostumeJewellery.co.uk which is a bit of a mouthful and also I had problems doing something called SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on it. So after working on this site for nearly a year I started again, this time with a better name and a new more appealing site Beads. This site still isn't fully operational because I have had to focus on other parts of the business such as selling at festivals. Bit of jump in topics you may think but its not really, the reason is this is another reason I set up the company because I wanted to be able to goto Music Festivals all over the country basically for free (Or making a little money in the process). So I had my first festival 3 weekends ago and it didn't go to well.

The festival was "Wood Festival" near Reading, the weather was terrible, the organisation of the stalls wasn't great and their weren't that many people, not a great recipe, on the flip side I saw some awesome acts, met some fab people and had a very good time chilling out with my cousin, who was helping me.

The second festival was "Plymouth Volksfest", pretty self explanatory where this one was. This was more of a music stroke car festival, and there were some awesome V-dubs there, some of which you will see in the gallery part of Beads. I actually made a little money here even though lots of the traders near me were complaining of the layout of this festival too. Again I met some wicked people but sadly the music was not to my taste, and I was doing this one by myself, even though it doesn't really feel like that because you are constantly chatting to people, punters and stall holders alike.

I am now gearing up for my third festival which is another VW festival, up in Shrewsbury, "Deva Dubs and Rods" I am looking forward to this one as it is the first one I am doing with my girlfriend. She is a creative too and she is creating a big VW sign for the back of my stall. We are also creating some wicked T-Shirts with a camper van on and another design which I am still waiting to see.

Well thats all I have time for today, don't really feel like I've told you anything but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Second Entry

So its been a while since my last blog update, better late than never hey. Well just a brief outline of whats been going on in my life...

I went skiing like I said I was going to in my last entry and it was awesome, just what the doctor ordered... funny that as it was a doctor who invited me. Huh. Anyways, enough of the lame and weak attempts at humor. So the most memorable part of the holiday, memorable not enjoyable... was when me and my mate turned up, well it started before that.

I arrived at Geneva airport about an hour or two after him. Had to rush out of the package handling area in fear of missing the last train up to the resort and having to pay an absolute fortune in taxi fees. Well my mate had already had a few beers but we made the train. My friend suggests we hit the rum and vodka on the train. Now usually I'd be well up for this, but he said his mum was up at the resort and I don't like to cross her and its always best that I'm on best behavior around her. Anyway he says its fine and that she'd be in bed by the time we get there. So I go 'fine' and we start playing High-Low if you have ever played this you will know there are no winners in this only losers. So we get absolutely twatted. Turn up at the bottom of the resort and get on the bus up the mountain. We meet this nice bulgarian or polish guy can't remember and he's drinking neat whiskey, keeps trying to get me to drink it but this is the last thing I need.

So we get up into the resort and get off the bus to be welcomed by my mates twin brother. AWESOME. I had no idea he was gonna be there, what a great surprise. He foolishly takes us to a pub... not the best idea, we have a few more beers and then start our walk up to the flat. He for some unknown reason takes us the hard way and by the hard way I mean a path that has been completely snowed under and is now a 45 degree ice slide, not the ideal path for two very pissed guys with skies and luggage!!!!

We got up the next day and... well I got up the next day feeling fine, may have something to do with me throwing up all over the bathroom, and I mean all over the bathroom, I am usually quiet a controlled thrower upper. I say this because I am quiet experienced at it, alcohol from a young age always seemed to do that to me, I have got better with age but I have kept my skills. I through up once slouched in a chair and a friend who witnessed this said it was literally like watching a tube come out my mouth, miss me completely and land in between my legs, he said he was quiet impressed, I was only 14 at the time, so you can imagine how experienced I am at the age of 27.

Anyway I got up and my Doctor friend was dead to the world nothing was budging him, I told him if we got up on the mountain he'd be fine, lying obviously but I didn't want to spend my first day in the alps in 3 years stuck in a room with a hangover. I finally got him out not that we did much skiing but it was nice to get out. His bro was a little annoyed to say the least that we hadn't skied with him as he was going home that day. I also need to buy his Mum a couple of nice bottles of wine to make up for the mess I had made the night before... and for waking her up... and for her having to disinfect the bathroom at 3 in the morning... and for the guilt I felt for all of the above, especially as I had been invited very kindly by the parents to stay in their flat.

The rest of the holiday went rather more smoothly with a lot less drinking, the most exciting part for me was using the crash mat in the ski park to perform my first back flip (See gallery) and then proceeding to hurt myself quiet badly by landing face first in the mat and twisting my neck but nothing serious, thank god there was a mat!!!

First Entry

This is my first entry on my blog, I am sitting in City Airport waiting to bored a flight to Geneva, I am going on a much needed skiing holiday. Much needed... well I have had a particularly bad time of it recently, and like most people my problems are made much bigger by the fact they are mine.

Why have I had a rough time of it recently, well, firstly last week my Dad had a minor stroke, this is due to an ongoing cancer that has been spreading through his body. He recently had a knee operation replacing the whole knee and we were all told that this was it, the final part of this horrific decease destroyed, but alas they were wrong. He has now been told he may have a brain tumor which caused the stroke. Obviously this comes as quiet a blow to my family and me, to give you a bit of background to my Dad, you have never met someone who has worked so hard to get himself to where he is today. He started of with nothing and has become a well known man within his field. Leaving school at the age of 12 because he had to earn money for his family and becoming in my eyes one of the greatest achievers I have ever met. You could say my Dad is my idol and there is nothing I want to do more than make him really proud of me.

The second thing that happened to me is a lot more personal and something only I can really truly understand. I split up with my girlfriend, the person I thought I would spend the rest of my life with, my soul mate. It was circumstances that tore us apart not lack of loving each other, which in my eyes makes it all the more painful. Well thats enough depressing info for now, on with the update.

So I am in the airport and have been since 11.30 this morning not because my plain has been delayed but because I had to come from the other side of London with skies and large bag and was worried something may go wrong, I may get lost or something equally daming for my much wanted holiday. You may ask why am I writing this entry into the Life blog, well I don't really think of going skiing as traveling its more day to day life, even though I haven't been for 3-4 years due to the lack of funds.

Well hopefully I will be boarding soon and hopefully my plane won't be delayed otherwise I might as well driven. So until the next entry...
