The life and times of me, not Adrian Mole, but me, Rico.
Is that it... is that it???
Why not? I have always thought I should write a blog, not because I think it will be very interesting or anything, but maybe to get me to do more interesting stuff.
Well I suppose at this point I should give a little background information on me.
I am a photographer, that is I studied at university to become a photographer, like most photographers the work is few and far between so I need to do other stuff to help pay the bills. This is why I also own a Jewellery company.
As you have probably guessed by now I am a creative... but wait let me start at the beginning...
A long long time ago I was born in a little place called London in the UK, in a hospital called "Roehampton Hospital", this was not a very momentous occasion, time did not stand still and life as everyone who was alive at the time just carried on as usual.
Like most kids I went through school, not doing to great mind, not through lack of brain cells but because of pretty mischievous nature.
Lets skip forward... After all there is a huge gap in Jesus's story so there will be in mine. (Not that I am comparing myself to him, just figure why not stick to an age old way of telling a life story.)
So I came out of college at the ripe old age of 18 and didn't really know what to do next, so I did virtually every job you can think of, obviously not stuff like the managering director of the Bank of England but a little more down to earth jobs.
After a few years of doing all these jobs and alot of travelling in-between, I finally decided to go to Uni and study Photography, why you may ask, what lead you to this point of your life that you thought you had to do photography of all things at Uni? Well I can answer that, I felt like I needed to further myself and like I said previously studying wasn't exactly my forte unless it involved something I enjoyed. As I had always been a creative and loved photography it seemed like the logical step.
For once I studied well as well, came out with a lovely BA Hons in Photography and went onto deciding what next.
By this point the countries I had travelled had been quiet vast, another great reason to get into photography as I could travel with it quiet happily and expand my portfolio, the countries I had visited by now were, most of Europe, Pakistan, Kenya, a 3 month road trip around the United States, Canada and finally Uganda.
It may sound like I come from an affluent family but this is not how I afforded to do all these trips, I worked earned then travelled, some people like to spend their money on clothes, others like to spend it on going out, I like to spend it on furthering my knowledge of the globe.
When I came back from Uganda, in which I spent alot time in an orphanage which was an amazing experience in which I will elaborate in my Travel Blog. I starting working freelance for this amazing internet company, which taught me more than enough skills to get started on the web.
Nearly finished in my little life summary, so at the start of 2008 I travelled to Mauritius where I found a bead shop after a series of events and this is where my Jewellery company was first brought into this world, once I got back I set about setting up the business from scratch with a website and from here I grew to a retailer for surf-shops and the like and have been growing ever since.
So this is me in a nutshell. I hope you won't have got to bored not go on with this journey, my plan is to have a few sections to this site, Travel Blog, Life Blog and Picture Gallery. So please venture on into the unknown and maybe you will find the read of the century ;)
